About Steve

Thank you for visiting my webpage.

I want to start off by thanking the people of the East Ward for honouring me with the opportunity to serve them over the past four years. This has truly been a humbling experience.

Please consider this webpage as my application for Regional Council. As a local Councillor, I firmly understand that I work for you.

Building on my background as an Ontario public servant, a teacher with the Toronto District School Board and Ward Councillor, I am once again asking for your support for my candidacy for Regional Council.

During my time on Whitby Council, I have had the privilege of serving as the Vice Chairman of the Operations Committee and as the Chair of the Fire Department. I currently serve as the Mayor’s designate on the Ethno Cultural and Diversity Committee and the Youth Council. I have also had the opportunity to serve on the Planning and Development Committee and the Management Committee.

Over the last four years, I have worked hard with other members of Council to find operational savings of approximately $3 million without harming jobs or service levels. We are attracting more businesses to Whitby to grow the commercial and industrial tax base so we can relieve the burden on residential taxpayers. With other Ward Councillors and the Mayor, I continue to fight to have the tolls removed from Highway 412.

I hold a specialized honours degree from York University and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto.

I’m seeking the job of Regional Councillor because I want to work together with my neighbours to make Whitby and Durham Region a better place to live. I really love this town and my community. My wife and I are homeowners here and made the decision to raise a family here. We should never lose the opportunity to make it even better; safer, cleaner, more family friendly and more affordable.

If you want a fiscally responsible individual to watch out for your interest at Regional Council, then I humbly ask for your vote so that I can work for all the families in Whitby.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve our community.
